About This Project
The biomethanization of farmer residues will allow a dairy farm in Franklin, Vermont, to produce electricity, heat and bedding for its animals, while using a renewable energy resource. The owners have a herd of 450 dairy cows and are producing electricity that's sold to the public electricity grid. The anaerobic digester is designed and constructed by Bio-Methatech, a joint venture between BM in Canada and LIPP Systems in Germany. The 2G CHP Cogeneration plant consists of of 2 x 2G filius 106 with optimized MAN core engines in biogas configuration with an Electrical Power output of 2 x 100 ekW/h Single-Phase total 200 ekW/h or 1,660 MW p.a. and a Thermal Power capacity of 272 kWh/th. 2G Energy Inc. supplied the advanced equipment in sound attenuated enclosures in order to reduce the noise down to <50 dbA installed inside a dedicated engine room inside the biogas auxiliary building. 2G also supplied the complete gas treatment, including cooler, dryer /dehumidification, re-heating, and the H2S removal system. The controls and switchgear, including single phase utility interconnection are also provided by 2G. Furthermore, 2G Energy Inc. provided a fully enclosed flare specifically designed for biogas applications.
2G's flare systems, vapor combustors, and solutions meet EPA regulation 40 CFR 60.18 and are BACT approved. Heat produced by the 2G CHP System will be recovered to maintain the temperature of the digester as well as to heat various buildings. The owners are increasing their annual income by selling electricity at an attractive rate.
